Nixon Wins FLW Tour Open

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Berkley® pro Larry Nixon outlasted the FLW field to earn his fourth FLW Tour victory this past weekend. The Bee Branch, Ark., native weighed in 84-pounds, 11-ounces of fish during the four-day event on the Detroit River. The Berkley pro claimed $100,000 in winning his 18th tour-level victory while fishing on Lake Erie.

The 36-year angling veteran, drop-shotted a variety of baits to mimic baitfish on Lake Erie. Most of his fish were caught using the Berkley PowerBait® Jerk Shad and mixing in the Havoc Sick Fish for a different look.

"I had a dreadful practice," said Nixon. "I only found one pocket of fish, but couldn't find anymore. Little did I know that one pocket would win the whole event. This is a great feeling to be on top once again. I am getting older, but fishing seems to be my fountain of youth. This is truly a great feeling."

The Berkley pros will be on the road at the next FLW Tour event that is set for September 20- 23 on Wheeler Lake, Alabama.
